Inspection & testing
JDM Alliance LA prides itself on quality. Every engine passes a multi-point inspection and compression test, and we only ship engines with positive compression results. All units are genuinely imported low-mileage engines (typically 20,000–60,000 miles) pulled from running vehicles in Japan.
What the warranty covers
All internal engine components: pistons, rings, pins, crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshaft and bearings, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, seals, guides, oil pump, push rods, rocker arms and shafts. The engine block, cylinder walls and cylinder head are warranted free of cracks or distortion. Head gaskets are warranted for 30 days regardless of engine type. We reserve the right to repair with serviceable used parts or exchange the engine at our discretion.
What the warranty does not cover
External parts
VVT-i / VTEC systems, intake/exhaust manifolds, distributor, starter, alternator, water pump, thermostat, belts, hoses, sensors, injectors, ECUs, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, mounts — all external accessories are provided for testing/convenience only and are not warranted.
Labor & freight
Labor to remove/install an engine, towing, and freight or delivery charges are not covered.
Misuse & overheating
Damage from abuse, neglect, accident, improper installation, overheating (clogged radiator, stuck thermostat, faulty water pump), modification, forced induction the engine wasn't designed for, or competitive/racing use.
Maintenance items
Tune-ups, filters, hoses, belts, lubricants, coolants, spark plugs, and normal wear-and-tear without an actual breakdown. Damage from a defective/uninstalled timing belt is not covered — a new timing belt must be installed.
Parts & accessories — sold as-is
All used parts and accessories — mirrors, gauge clusters, wheels, strut tower bars, suspension, brakes, body panels, interior, and electronics (ECUs, clusters, sensors) — are sold in AS-IS condition, final sale, with no returns or exchanges. The exception is differentials: front and rear differentials carry a 30-day warranty as shown in the table above. We photograph every part in detail; please review all photos and confirm fitment for your vehicle before purchasing. Questions? Call or text us before you buy — we're happy to help verify.
Requirements to keep your warranty valid
Failure to follow these voids the warranty. The engine must be installed, maintained, and adjusted by a certified mechanic. Set ignition timing to manufacturer spec. Change the oil after the first 500 miles. Re-torque cylinder head bolts to spec. Inspect and service the cooling system, replacing coolant if rusted or contaminated. You must replace the timing belt, oil filter, water pump and spark plugs before/at installation.
How to file a warranty claim
- Download the Warranty Claim Form from the top of this page, complete it, and email it to warranty@jdmalliancela.com with the required documents.
- The customer is responsible for freight on returned engines. No replacement is sent until our staff inspects and verifies the returned engine.
- If found defective, we will send a replacement or issue a refund minus shipping. The engine must be returned in the same condition it was sent — missing parts are charged to the customer.
- If a wrong/defective engine is not returned within 60 days of a replacement being sent, the customer is charged the full engine price plus freight. We cannot accept an engine that has been disassembled or parted.
Freight & delivery inspection
Do not sign the freight release without first inspecting the outer packaging for damage. Freight companies will not let you open the package before signing, so note any visible damage on the release form. Shipping insurance is provided by the freight company, not JDM Alliance LA. If you sign without noting damage, the carrier is released from responsibility and damages will not be reimbursed.
