GE or GTE — which one do you actually need?

This is the question that decides your budget, and a lot of people get it wrong before they call.

Straight advice: if you're building a street car targeting moderate power, a 2JZ-GE with a properly sized turbo setup gets you there for a lot less money than chasing a GTE. If you're going for serious boost and want the forged bottom end and oil squirters from the factory, the GTE is worth the premium. Call us and we'll tell you honestly which one fits your build — we'd rather sell you the right engine than the expensive one.

What VVT-i changes

Later 2JZ-GTE engines came with VVT-i on the intake cam, which improves low-end response but uses a different head, wiring, and turbos than the earlier non-VVT-i units. It matters for your harness and ECU choice. Tell us which you're working with and we'll match the engine to your setup.

What's included

Configurations vary by unit. Some are engine-only; others come with the transmission, ECU, and harness. Every listing spells out exactly what's in the crate — and we'll confirm by serial number before you pay. Typical mileage for our JDM units is 35,000 to 55,000 miles.

Nissan 240SX — popular RWD swap, needs mounts and custom work

Buying from out of state

Most 2JZ buyers aren't in Los Angeles. We crate and freight nationwide at flat-rate zone pricing — $200 to $400 commercial, $385 to $549 residential with liftgate. We also ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and worldwide. Ask for photos and the serial number of the exact unit before you commit.

Warranty: 2JZ-GTE and other performance engines carry a 30-day warranty. Naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE units carry 90 days. All transmissions are 30 days.
