K20 or K24 — pick by what you're building

The short version: K20 revs, K24 pulls. Most people building a lightweight chassis for track use want the K20's top end. Most people who want a fast street car want K24 torque, or a K24 block with a K20 head.

The "K24 block, K20 head" build. The most common high-value K-series combination is a K24 shortblock with a K20A Type R head — you get the displacement and torque of the 2.4 with the flow and cam profile of the 2.0. We stock both halves, and we'll tell you which specific units pair well rather than selling you two random engines.

RBB, RBC, RAA — what those head codes mean

Honda stamps a three-letter code on the head, and it tells you a lot. RBB is the high-compression TSX head. RBC comes from the 06-09 Civic Si and is a favorite for swaps. RAA is the lower-compression Accord head. If a seller can't tell you the head code, they don't know what they're selling. Every K-series unit on our floor is identified by serial and head code.

What's included

Some units are engine-only; others include the 6-speed LSD transmission, ECU, and harness. Every listing states exactly what's in the crate. Typical mileage for our JDM units is 35,000 to 55,000 miles. Ask and we'll send photos and the serial number of the exact engine before you pay.

Buying from out of state

K-series buyers are everywhere, and most of ours ship. Flat-rate freight by zone — $200 to $400 commercial, $385 to $549 residential with liftgate. We also serve Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.

Warranty: standard K24A engines carry 90 days. K20A Type R and other performance units carry 30 days, as do all transmissions.
